Entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) is a proven path to ownership: rather than starting from zero, a capable entrepreneur acquires an established, profitable business and leads it into its next chapter. Search funds formalise this path — an entrepreneur raises a small pool of search capital, finds the right company, acquires it, and operates it for the long term.

Capitali's Search & ETA platform is in development. We are building the capability to support searchers and acquisition entrepreneurs with capital, structuring judgement, and — through ME Ventures — the transformation capability that the first eighteen months of new ownership demands.

Why this fits Capitali

ETA sits at the exact intersection of our three activities: it is an investment, an act of business building, and a transformation project at once. An acquired business rarely needs reinvention — it needs modernisation, professionalisation, and steady leadership. That is precisely the work our platform is designed to do.

It also fits our honesty about timing. Great acquisition opportunities depend on succession, and succession depends on demographics. Across Southeast Asia and the Gulf, a generation of founder-owned businesses is approaching transition. We are building capability now so that we are ready as that wave arrives.

What we look for in an acquisition

  • 01Established businesses with durable demand and real cash flow
  • 02Fragmented or under-digitised sectors where modernisation compounds
  • 03Owners seeking succession, not just exit
  • 04Operators with the humility to learn the business before changing it
  • 05Situations where technology and process can unlock measurable improvement

How we intend to work

Our intended role spans the full arc: supporting the search with capital and discipline, structuring acquisitions that protect both seller legacy and operator incentives, and then working alongside the new ownership on the transformation agenda — systems, technology, talent, and governance.

We will share more as the platform moves from development into activity. Until then, we describe it accurately: developing, deliberate, and built on the same standard of substance before signaling as the rest of Capitali.
